New parks and rec building on ballot in Kennebunkport

KENNEBUNKPORT — Long-time Recreation Director Carol Cook has always been a “make-do” kind of person, but if voters support the new parks and recreation building next week at the annual town meeting she’ll have a new facility to run the town’s burgeoning recreation program.

Town Manager Laurie Smith has made the new recreation building a priority, and both the Board of Selectmen and Budget Board have voted to support the $650,000 price tag.

 

“The idea of being a priority is foreign to me,” Cook said. “But everything we do is for the residents, and for the kids, they’re the priority.”
